Fulton Medical Center LLC announced the designation of Michael S. Powell, PT, MBA, as the chief executive officer of Fulton Medical Center today.
“During this time of transformation, there is no one better suited to lead Fulton Medical Center than Mike Powell,” said Kevin Standefer, Principal, Nueterra Focused Community Hospital Division. “Mike has nearly two decades of healthcare experience. He knows what it will take to modernize Fulton Medical Center and improve patient care for the Fulton community.”
Powell joins Fulton Medical Center with 17 years of management experience and clinical skills – most recently, from the Missouri Rehabilitation Center, a University of Missouri Health Care Specialty Hospital. As the Executive Director, Powell succeeded in transforming the organization’s staff engagement and patient satisfaction.
Powell began his career in healthcare as a staff physical therapist at Missouri Rehabilitation Center in 1996. He served in multiple roles before becoming Executive Director in 2013. Powell graduated with a B.S. in Biological Science and a B.S. in Physical Therapy from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. He also earned an MBA with an emphasis in healthcare administration from Southwest Baptist University.
“This is an exciting time for Fulton and the surrounding area, and I’m looking forward to being a part of it,” said Powell. “MU Health Care, Nueterra and myself are all working towards a common goal of making this hospital sustainable and providing area residents with quality, affordable healthcare close to home.”
University of Missouri (MU) Health Care and Nueterra formed Fulton Medical Center LLC to purchase Fulton Medical Center, formerly known as Callaway Community Hospital, in December 2014. As part of a renewed commitment to the hospital, MU Health Care and Nueterra are providing up to $2 million in new capital to refurbish the existing facility and site.
